KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 16.72 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Greece or Macedon, circa 310-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle with closed wings in right; in field to left, dolphin left above vertical thunderbolt; below throne, monogram. CNG E-Auction 521 (2022), 71. Price 852 var. (thunderbolt in the exergue). Nicely toned. Light scratches on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
